Be social

From Joe Wicks' PE lessons and Capt Tom Moore's fundraising to rallying support for the #ClapForCarers tribute, the nation's lockdown has created a wave of positive uses for social media.⁣

We've been inspired by the many ways, big and small, that people have been using social media in a, well, sociable way. This got us thinking about ways to make your social media presence more social!⁣

Be human. If it suits your brand's tone-of-voice, don't be afraid to make jokes or be cheeky. Get the faces behind your business in front of the camera, and let the personality of your brand shine through in your social media posts. ⁣

Build relationships. Yes, having followers is great, but it's more important to have engaged followers that you interact with. Answer questions promptly, @mention any brands you talk about and start and engage in conversations with people.⁣

Be supportive. What brands have an affinity with yours? For example, if you're a florist, it makes sense to build online relationships with wedding venues, caterers, photographers and other wedding suppliers. Like and comment on their posts and share their content where relevant, and they're bound to notice you and take action.⁣
